Man escapes death as fire guts vehicle in Lagos
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, said in a statement on Thursday that its personnel received a distress call around 2 a.m., adding that the car was already razed when it arrived at the scene of the incident. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported.” Oke-Osanyitolu further stated that the LASEMA’s Response Team, aided by officials from LASTMA, LCCI, and the Nigerian Police Force, worked to recover the burnt vehicle. The statement read in part, “The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency received distress calls at 2:10 am via its 767/112 Toll-Free Lines and swiftly deployed its Shark Response Team from the Lekki Base. A yet-to-be-identified male adult escaped death on Thursday after his Mercedes Benz C-Class car went up in flames at the Ikoyi-Lekki Link Bridge, in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. The incident was said to have occurred due to an electrical spark in the engine unit.
